It aint what you do, it's the place that you do it.

I wouldn't normally have anything good to say about a weekend spent editing and writing instead of in the hills (good weather in the Tararuas last weekend), but last weekend Whangaimoana on the South Wairarapa cost was about as nice a place as you could get for such a task. No internet, no cellphone reception, no phone and no other people meant no distractions. A table, and somewhere to charge a laptop were sufficient to get things done. Thanks to Stephen and Jo for the use of their bach.

writing/climbing

I haven't had much time for updating this recently, and all the other writing I've been doing hasn't left me feeling inclined to. But, in the interests of not letting things stagnate too much, here are a couple of photos from a week or two back at Whanganui Bay. I finally led "Forever Tuesday Morning" which I'd top-roped a few times and which had taunted me since I bailed on it, one bolt from the top, trying to lead it a year or so ago. N., Erich and I also climbed Tiba. I led the first pitch, Erich the last two. It was my first time up there and a bunch of fun. Now I want to buy some gear and go back and lead the remaining pitches.
