Tales from the frontlawn
The bird is a shinning cuckoo. I've heard them about this summer but never seen one before. The weekend before this, I was one fly past, and then there was was one sitting in some manuka near the start of the track by the Mohaka river. In winter, they fly to Tahiti, then they come back to NZ in the summer and lay their eggs in the nests of Grey Warblers.
